I absolutely adore the chaotic energy of this work. The minimalistic style of htmls/css coding combined with the maximalistic visuals gives Baron Giurgis confessions a comedic vibe. The artist, "Baron Giurigis" real name appears to be Vicio or Vincenzo Minnuto. Most traces of them seems somewhat shady, such as an entire reddit page with links to these works and titles such as "just read" or "HELP", with little explanation beyond that. Baron Giurigi frequently links to donations and even some suspicious downloads. It has been speculated that their works are made in websim (AI). While I find the work "29" hilarious, something about it is unclear. Is Baron Giurigi actually losing their mind? Is the comedy here completely one sided, for the viewer only?
They state several times that they are in fact admitted at a "psychiatric community facility", and claims to have previously survived through pickpocketing and fortune readings in malls, among other things.
I wouldn't call this art

Melonkings work "2K" has been in my gallery for a long time and remains one of my favorite site-based, coded artworks. I love the simplicity of it, as well as the surprisingly profound questions it raises every time I visit it. Will 2K last as long as suggested? What is the nature of the digital landscape? We are gathering so many immaterial possesions, collected in code on servers and harddiscs, and the intangible nature of our digital landscape both immortalizes and jeopardizes it. 2K makes a bold claim, but it is obviously done with the intent of not being entirely serious. It is very likely that this work will not last for a thousand years - and yet there truly is a chance. Digital museums, immortalized websites exists, and I do believe digital archaeology will become a true profession, if it isn't already.
Melon/Melonking is a legend here in Neocities, and their main site has been one of the most visited ones for as long as I've been here at least. Melon is a web revivalist, a movement that favours creativity, fun and freedom to repair, while opposing the more corporate digital institutions of Zuckerberg and Musk, for example.
HTML has no time, it lasts forever. In 2000 years somewhere on some crystal harddrive, there will be a copy of Melonking.Net and some bored archeologist will explore it again. I make the site for that archaeologist (hello!)
